How a tutor inspires his student to take part in Singapore Idol

I am proud to announce that this student took part in the Singapore Idol and attained the status of top 40 contestants. I am even more proud to tell you that I contributed in some ways to his decision of taking part in the Singapore Idol.

I noticed that he had been honing his guitaring skill almost every time I turned up for his tuition lesson. During our last lesson, I wanted to teach him a lesson not taught in the Math textbook. I took his guitar and started crooning a Cantonese song.

“I was thick-skinned to grab the opportunity to sing when the lead singer threw the offer to the floor in a pub.” I explained to him.

As a result, I made good friends with the band members. I highly encouraged him to ‘show off’ his musical talent whenever possible. Little did I know he could take it so far.

As a tutor, I feel I have to do more, much more to be a shining example to all my students.
